Our Name
Az Zaïmph
"He lifted a corner of the mainsail," wrote Albert Einstein after reading Louis de Broglie’s 1924 thesis. Captivated, he penned these words in a letter to Paul Langevin. De Broglie would go on to win the Nobel Prize in 1929, at just 37, for his groundbreaking discovery of the wave nature of the electron. This fundamental insight was crucial in explaining the nature of matter and advancing the pursuit of a unified theory of everything.
In 1950, Salvador Dalí painted himself as a young girl delicately lifting a corner of the sea’s surface, revealing a dog sleeping in the shadow of the water. Dalí playfully taps into his imagined childhood innocence. Though still uncertain of who he truly is, he searches for self-awareness, striving to awaken the person dormant within him. Rather than listening to the seashell he holds in his left hand, he seeks answers beneath the ocean’s veil.
At the base of Byrsa Hill, driven by fear and the thirst for revenge, Matho and Spendius steal the sacred Veil of Tanit—the Zaïmph—from Salammbô. The name "Az Zaïmph," with its doubled "z" as a solar letter in Arabic, speaks to the veil's immense power. Possessing it grants mastery, as it reveals hidden truths. No longer afraid, Matho feels emboldened, ready to cross flames and walk through the sea to find Salammbô. Far from Megara, Hamilcar’s daughter embarks on a journey into the Mercenaries' camp, marking her passage into adulthood as she seeks to recover the Zaïmph.
To lift a corner of the veil is to humbly uncover the hidden, whether in the depths of the ocean or the quantum realm—or, in our case, within organizations and their management. It means unveiling the very essence of what we study and understanding its true nature. This insight enables the design and implementation of meaningful changes, driving better performance and inspiring progress.
